• While pursuing his B.S. at Purdue University in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Certificate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scott exited a career as an engineer in the oil and natural gas industry and part time patent drafting for a local patent attorney to become a research engineer at the Purdue University Horticulture College. It was there Scott assisted in the design of a NASA funded automated hydroponic plant growth chamber with the ultimate goal of growing sustainable food in space colonies under Dr. Cary Mitchell. This inspired him to found Heliponix™ (formerly Hydro Grow) his senior year. He is responsible for overseeing next generation products, manufacturing operations, and overseeing the strategic plan of the entire business.

    Ivan Ball - CTO

Ivan began his career as an Electrical Engineering Co-op his sophomore year while working towards his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology with a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue University. His co-op allowed him to explore the sophistication of a large scale food safe manufacturer. While on campus, Ivan was selected to be a Research Engineer at the Purdue Horticulture College designing and testing an automated hydroponic plant growth chamber for the NASA Specialized Center of Research and Training Cuvette. There, Ivan met Scott as a coworker, and joined forces as a cofounder to build the world’s first fully automated, food computer for Heliponix. He is now responsible for control system design, electrical hardware fabrication, product functionality testing, and power optimization.
